MYP Design Cycle Checklist

Criterion A: Inquiring and Analyzing

  • Introduction: I have written a brief paragraph, introducing the project. (Do this Last)
  • The Problem:
    • I have re-written the problem in my own words, and I understand it.
    • I have explained and justified the need for a solution to a problem.
    • I have specified the client/target audience.
  • Initial Thoughts & Ideas: I have scanned & posted my initial thoughts & ideas page.
  • Qualifying Initial Investigation: I have identified and prioritized the primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem.
  • Research: I have analyzed a range of existing products/designs that inspire a solution to the problem.
  • Explore: I have explored many different possible solutions to the problem. (Mind Map)
  • Bibliography: I have properly maintained a bibliography and cited appropriately.
  • Design Brief: I have developed a detailed design brief,  which summarizes what I am going to do to solve the problem.
  • Design Test: I have designed a test to evaluate the product or design’s effectiveness.
  • Evaluate: I have evaluated and reflected on my performance in the this stage.
    • Challenges and successes
    • Areas of concerns
    • The strengths and weaknesses.
    • Observations on how this stage could have been improved.
    • General reflections
  • Self Assessment: I have completed a self assessment for this stage
Criterion B: Developing Ideas

  • Design Specification: I have develop a design specification, which clearly states the success criteria for the design of a solution.
  • Concept Designs:
    • I have develop a range of feasible design ideas, which can be correctly interpreted by others. (Sketches, Proposals,
    • I have evaluated each design idea critically against the design specification.
    • I have presented the chosen design and justify its selection.
  • The Design: I have develop an accurate and detailed planning drawing, diagram, or storyboard.
  • Evaluate: I have evaluated and reflected on my performance in the this stage.
    • Challenges and successes
    • Areas of concerns
    • The strengths and weaknesses
    • Observations on how this stage could have been improved.
    • General reflections
  • Self Assessment: I have completed my self assessment for this stage
Criterion C: Creating the Solution

  • The Plan:
    • I have constructed a logical plan (a step-by-step procedure) for the creation of the solution.  (sufficient for peers to be able to follow)
    • I have stated the resources that will be needed.
    • I have completed a timeline / Gantt chart
  • The Creation Process:
    • I have demonstrated excellent technical skills when making the solution.
    • I have fully justified changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.
    • Process Journal: I have maintained a process journal through the entire creation process.
      • I have explained the tools and techniques used in the process of creation.
      • I have included evidence in the creation phase that I have followed my time plan.
      • I have reflected any changes I made to my plan during the creation phase.
      • I have included screen shots and other photographic evidences of the key phases of creation.
      • I have kept notes in my process journal about how well I worked, problems encountered, and use of time - to be used in the evaluation.
  • The Final Project: I have presented the solution as a whole, either in electronic form, or through photographs of the solution from different angles, showing details.
  • Evaluate: I have evaluated and reflected on my performance in the this stage.
    • Challenges and successes
    • Areas of concerns
    • The strengths and weaknesses.
    • Observations on how this stage could have been improved.
    • General reflections
  • Self Assessment: I have completed my self assessment for this stage
Criterion D: Evaluating

  • I have evaluated and reflected on each stage in detail.
  • I have designed a detailed and relevant testing methods, which generate data, to measure the success of the solution.
  • I have included the feedback received from my testers / user in proper format.
  • I have analyzed the results of questionnaires if any used for testing my product / solution.
  • I have critically evaluate the success of the solution against the design specification.
  • I have compared my predicted timeline with the actual timeframe and gave reasons for the changes.
  • I have explained the impact of the solution on the client/target audience.
  • Self Assessment: I have completed my self assessment for this stage

First,  Create a blog through www.Blogger.com using a “simple” template and choose one of the basic initial color scheme.  You can always change it later to fit your theme.  Assign it an appropriate title and address.

The Interface:

It should looks something like this . . .
